Energy Cost Management

When you sign up with NRG Community Solar, you will earn solar credits every month for the energy produced by your portion of your assigned local NRG Community Solar farm.

These solar credits may help reduce your utility bill over time, depending on the amount of energy your home uses as well as the amount of energy produced by the solar farm at a given time.

Your Energy Usage vs. Solar Farm Production

Your home's energy usage may vary with the seasons. Similarly, solar production varies based on the amount of sunlight each day.

In other months, the solar energy produced may lower, but not fully offset your energy supply costs, because your energy usage was higher, or there wasn't enough solar power produced. The program is designed for this ebb and flow in your home's usage and the solar farm's production.

Earning Solar Credits

Every month, you will earn solar credits for the energy produced by your assigned portion of the NRG Community Solar farm. If the value of the credits surpass the cost of your home's energy usage, then you will have offset your utility costs. Typically, this will happen over time and the savings are cumulative.
